About young rock'n roll talents
In an interview, Alice reveals that, in his opinion, there are very few young bands who want to play rock'n roll: "Most current bands want to be very self-absorbed, very folk-oriented - very boring, just boring."
Alice likes bands like Aerosmith, Slash, Gun's Roses and the veterans, but he doubts there will ever be another one like them:
"You have five kids together in a garage and when we were that age, we wanted to play something that was loud and aggressive. [...] You think to yourself, what's gone wrong with them, turn it up. I can't turn this generation of kids into rockers, I just don't know why they're so shy."
About the fictional character Alice Cooper
But Alice is a thoroughbred rocker and has no regrets about his decision, in fact he thinks it was the best decision of his life - to invent Alice Cooper and create his very favorite rock star, "who is evil, funny, totally creepy, but also elegant", as he describes it in his own words.
He got his inspiration for the look of his fictional character from the movie "What Really Happened to Baby Jane": "During the scene in which Bette Davids smears her make-up savagely in anger, I realized: that's it! I combined it with the black leather outfit that Anita Pallenberg wore as the Black Queen in the cult film "Barbarella".
Even though he wanted to be the first villain in rock'n roll, it was never Alice's intention to shock the audience, but rather to confuse them. His moral here is: "In the end, I, the bad guy, am executed, good seems to prevail."'
Behind the character Alice is a kind-hearted man, which becomes clear when he describes his first three deeds if he could perform miracles:
"Peace in the Middle East. - Stop all the bullies. - And I would create a place where the homeless could eat and sleep. A place where they would be safe and not freeze to death in the snow or die in the heat."
About his lifestyle
Despite his advanced age, Alice is not thinking of stopping, he says he is blessed both physically and mentally. Unlike many other musicians his age, he can do five to six shows a week without getting tired - despite sleeping a modest four hours a night.
He puts the reason for his good shape down to his healthy lifestyle, in which he is ahead of others in his industry: "I don't smoke, I've never smoked, because it really drags you down. [...] and I don't drink or do drugs. All of that has a lot to do with my physical health."
