A musical love
Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis
Johnny Depp and his then-girlfriend Vanessa Paradise have been a couple for a long time. Nevertheless, the story of how they met is so cinematic that it's almost hard to believe.
Allegedly, it was love at first sight. According to the French singer and the actor, they met for the first time in 1998 in Paris, the city of love, for an event. She was standing just a few meters away from him. The only thing he saw was her back. It fascinated him so much that he immediately fell in love with the singer when she turned around.
But actually the meeting of the two should have been quite different, as Vanessa published in her biography. According to this, the two met already in 1994 in the Viper Room, a nightclub in West Hollywood, which until 2004 belonged in part to Johnny.
The singer is said to have waited and fought for the movie star for a whole four years, successfully. Which story is really true, only the two know.
What is clear, however, is that the two have always had a passion for songwriting. When Vanessa produced her album "Love Songs", it was like love therapy for her. One of the songs even comes from Johnny's pen. He wrote the chorus to "New Year".
“Breathing softly, it will get to the core
Breathing softly, it will get to the core
It’s indelible, all you need to know
Indelible on the body of your soul”
Her daughter, who was very young at the time, suddenly sang a melody to the song. Vanessa was so moved, she said, that she recorded little Lily-Rose's performance. The video is a nice reminder of earlier times for the parents, she said.

In February 2011, Vanessa Paradis and Johnny recorded the song "Ballade de Melodie Nelson" in Los Angeles. This is a cover of Serge Gainsbourg. This cover appeared on the album "From Gainsbourg to Lulu", which is a tribute by Lucien Gainsbourg to his late father.
