Paul McCartney stopped by Johnny's studio sometime during the recording of the Hollywood Vampires' first album.
He suggested they record "Come And Get It" after all.
Paul had written the song for Badfinger.
And if Paul McCartney says so....
So he's kind of an honorary member of the vampires.
Joe Perry sings a song by Johnny Thunders on the album Rise. "You can't put your arms around a memory" was released on October 8, 1978. The song means a lot to Joe personally, as he was very good friends with Johnny Thunders, who died in 1991.
"There’s certain parts of the lyrics that really touch home, but the main thing to me is that I miss Johnny. He passed away way to early… When Aerosmith went to New York and got signed, [Thunders’ band The New York Dolls] were signed to the same management company a week earlier. So we kind of came up together in those early months. I always saw them as kind of like our New York brothers, and I’m still friends with [singer] David Johansen, and he actually sang on my last solo record. Johnny was a good friend, but he had another path, and unfortunately he left too soon, so I really felt it was appropriate for me to sing that song."
"Tommy asked me to give him a bass piece and Johnny titled it. Johnny is a prolific writer and had this title in one of his many books for the album. When coming up with this I pictured a vampire slowly awakening from his coffin." tells Chris Wyse on Instagram on 10. Nov 2023
Jeff Beck plays the guitar solo on the track "Welcome to the Bushwacker."
In 2017/2018, Joe, Johnny and Tommy were working on the Rise album. They were writing songs and making demos when Johnny suggested they bring Jeff Beck in to play a song together. So Jeff played great solo for "Welcome to the Bushwacker"
Tommy: "When you work with Joe Perry or Jeff Beck, you never try to manage this guys. Every solo on the album is played in one tack. You give them the song and just let them do their magic, because that's why they're fucking legends."
In addition to Jeff Beck, John Waters also plays on this song.
