Ein kleiner Überblick über Jeffs musikalisches Leben
Jeff Beck wurde am 24. Juni 1944 in Wallington, Großbritannien geboren. Am Anfang seiner Karriere verdiente er sein Geld als Sessionmusiker.
1965 suchten die Yardbirds als Ersatz für Eric Clapton einen neuen Leadgitarristen.Mit Jimmy Page bildete er bis Ende 1966 ein legendäres Leadgitarren-Duo, verließ dann aber die Gruppe.
1967 gründete Jeff Beck mit Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Micky Waller und Nicky Hopkins die Jeff Beck Group. Die gemeinsamen Alben "Truth" und "Beck-Ola" machen den Gitarristen und seinen Stil weltweit bekannt und gelten als Meilensteine der Rockmusik. Aufgrund von Spannungen innerhalb der Gruppe fiel sie schließlich 1972 auseinander.
1975 veröffentlichte Beck ein sehr vom Jazz inspiriertes Instrumental–Solo-Album mit dem Titel "Blow by Blow", das von der Kritik sehr gelobt wurde.
1976 besuchte Aerosmith Gitarrist Joe Perry seinen Helden Jeff Beck Backstage im Providence Civic Center in Rhode Island. Am selben Abend kam Beck bei einem Aerosmith Konzert on Stage - dies war ein Geburtstagsgeschenk für Perry.
Jeff Beck hatte nie solche kommerziellen Erfolge gefeiert wie Eric Clapton oder Jimmy Page, dennoch gilt er als Pionier der Rockmusik und Gitarrenlegende. Für seine Rockinstrumentals wurde er bislang sechsmal mit einem Grammy Award ausgezeichnet: 1986 für Escape, 1990 für Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop mit Terry Bozzio und Tony Hymas, 2002 für Dirty Mind, 2004 für Plan B, 2010 für A Day in the Life und 2011 für Nessun Dorma.
Um die Jahrtausendwende machte Beck folgendes Zitat: „Technologie betrachte ich als einen Freund, denn es macht keinen Sinn, an Feinden herum zu fummeln“. Eine Experimentierfreude, die für einen seit den 60er Jahren aktiven Musiker unüblich ist, dennoch einen unvermeidlichen Schritt darstellt. 2011 listete ihn der Rolling Stone auf Platz fünf der 100 besten Gitarristen aller Zeiten.
2019 nahm er mit den Hollywood Vampires den Song, „Welcome to the Bushwackers“ auf, welcher auf dem Album „Rise“ veröffentlicht wurde.
Schon einige Jahre zuvor, nämlich 2016, kreuzten sich die Wege von Jeff Beck und Johnny Depp. Beide verstanden sich auf Anhieb, nicht zuletzt wegen ihrer unbändigen Liebe zur Musik. Nach einigen Auftritten von Depp bei Konzerten mit Beck, gingen diese Mitte des Jahres 2022 auf eine Europa-Tour, darunter auch zwei Konzerte in Deutschland. Im Herbst folgte eine große Tour durch die USA, in denen beide einige neue Songs ihrer im Juli 2022 erschienen Platte “18” aufführten.
Am 10. Januar stirbt Jeff Beck im Alter von 78 Jahren an den Folgen einer Meningitis-Infektion.
Neben 2 Tribute-Konzerten im Mai 2023 in der Royal-Albert-Hall in London, u.A. mit Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton und Johnny Depp, widmen Hollywood Vampires auf ihrer aktuellen Tour Jeff Beck ein Tribut, bestehend aus einer Slide–Show mit Fotos aus Jeff Becks bewegtem Leben, unterlegt mit einer Instrumental-Version von “Rumble” und “Beck’s Bolero”.

A brief overview of Jeff's musical life
Jeff Beck was born on June 24, 1944 in Wallington, Great Britain. At the beginning of his career he earned his money as a session musician.
In 1965, the Yardbirds were looking for a new lead guitarist to replace Eric Clapton, and he formed a legendary lead guitar duo with Jimmy Page until the end of 1966, when he left the group.
In 1967 Jeff Beck founded the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Micky Waller and Nicky Hopkins. The joint albums "Truth" and "Beck-Ola" made the guitarist and his style known worldwide and are considered milestones of rock music. Due to tensions within the group, it finally fell apart in 1972.
In 1975, Beck released a very jazz-inspired instrumental solo album titled "Blow by Blow," which was highly acclaimed by critics.
In 1976, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry visited his hero Jeff Beck backstage at the Providence Civic Center in Rhode Island. That same night, Beck came on stage at an Aerosmith concert - this was a birthday present for Perry.
Jeff Beck had never celebrated such commercial successes as Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page, yet he is considered a pioneer of rock music and a guitar legend. At the turn of the millennium, Beck made the following quote, "I consider technology a friend, because there's no point in fiddling with enemies." A willingness to experiment, unusual for a musician active since the 60s, yet an inevitable step. "When you're not singing, you have to focus on what people are hearing. Sound is everything."
In 2011, Rolling Stone listed him fifth among the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
In 2019, he recorded the song, "Welcome to the Bushwackers" with the Hollywood Vampires, which was released on the album "Rise".
Already a few years earlier, namely in 2016, the paths of Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp crossed. Both understood each other right away, not least because of their irrepressible love for music. After a few appearances by Depp at concerts with Beck, they went on a European tour in mid-2022, including two concerts in Germany. This was followed in the fall by a major tour of the U.S., during which they both performed some new songs from their record "18", released in July 2022.
On January 10, Jeff Beck dies at the age of 78 as a result of a meningitis infection.
Besides 2 tribute concerts in May 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, among others with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton and Johnny Depp, Hollywood Vampires dedicate a tribute to Jeff Beck on their current tour, consisting of a slide show with photos from Jeff Beck's eventful life, underlaid with an instrumental version of "Rumble" and "Beck's Bolero".
