Buck Johnson
Keyboarder, guitarist and singer
Buck wrote on Instagram: "Out today! My album #tongueandgroove to stream in the bio. From the press release: Tongue and Groove is a collection of songs Buck had co-written with lifelong collaborators such as Charlie Midnight (James Brown, Joe Cocker, Joni Mitchell), and was self-produced by Buck. The album showcases the roots-rock voice of Buck ("tongue") with his classic rock production ("groove"). Buck enlisted talented musicians and friends on the album, including guitarists Damon Johnson (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper, Brother Cane), Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow), Rob McNelley (Bob Seger, ACM Guitar Player of the Year), drummer Nick Buda (Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney), and bassist Ted Pecchio (Doyle Bramhall II, Susan Tedeschi)."
Steven Tyler commented "Buck Johnson came in out of the blue and purely by chance to our Aerosmith family, and we feel we really won the lottery. Big. Turns out he's much, much more than just a guy to sing harmony with"

"I grew up with gospel music in my family, who are very talented, great singers and musicians. My mom is a fantastic pianist. They had me singing and touring the South with them since I was 5 years old. I started out as a singer and realized I could also be a keyboard player, and now I play with Aerosmith." - Buck Johnson
Burleigh "Buck" Johnson was born on November 5, 1966, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Buck is a family man and still enjoys living in Alabama today. As a child, he sang gospel music with his musical family. His older cousins introduced him to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and other English rock bands, which naturally influenced his singing from an early age.
Currently, Buck is a background singer and keyboardist for Aerosmith, Hollywood Vampires, and The Joe Perry Project.
His career more or less began when he moved to Los Angeles. The multitalented musician has worked with many great names in music history (e.g., John Waite, The Thorns, Carlos Santana).
He played in bands such as Brother Cane and The Joe Perry Project. With his country band Whiskey Falls, Buck Johnson achieved two Top 40 hits.
He is considered a multi-instrumentalist and is both a singer and a songwriter.
Buck has also contributed to several film music productions, including Hannah Montana 2 and High School Musical 2.

Quite surprisingly, Buck got a call on Mother's Day 2014 from none other than Steven Tyler. The asked him if he had a passport and if he could fill in for Aerosmith. Of course he could! After all, Aerosmith was one of his idols. So he flew to Istanbul. Even during the flight he prepared himself for the meeting. Then, as he worked with Steven on the harmonies for "Crying", the latter is so taken with it that he asks to Buck with moist eyes "Where have you been?". Buck's vocal range and Steven's way of making music are just a perfect match.
Buck works hard and sleeps little, and within a very short time has won over both the band and the audience.
He joined the Hollywood Vampires through his friendship with bandmate Joe Perry and has been an important and indispensable member ever since.

(Susanne-Juli 2023)Buck also works with Tommy Henriksen and other well-known musicians in the supergroup Hellings. There he is keyboard player, vocals and songwriter. April 11th the new album arrives.
"Just Feel Better" was a very successful song recorded in 2005 by Carlos Santana and Steven Tyler for the album 'All That I Am'. Buck Johnson, who co-wrote the song, is now releasing his own interpretation of the hit on Friday, February 23. A complete new album will follow in the fall.

"My favourite part about being a musician, singer, songwriter, I love it all, but if I had to pick one I would say singing because that's what I first started doing with my family and if you can connect with people with your voice, there's no greater feeling than that."
Buck doesn't consider himself a keyboardist; he learned this instrument to be able to accompany himself in playing his songs.
Damon Johnson, who was Buck's bandmate in Whiskey Falls, played leadguitar for Alice Cooper's band from 2004. Interrupted by the time with Whiskey Falls he played there until the end of 2011. Half a year earlier Tommy Henriksen joined Alice Cooper.
By the way, the two Johnsons are not related.
Thank you, Buck for taking time to read the side.
