Alice & Sheryl Cooper
A match made in heaven
Alice Cooper and Sheryl Goddard met back in 1975, when she auditioned as a dancer for his Welcome to My Nightmare tour. They married on March 20, 1976, in Acapulco. They stay side by side through everything! Their relationship hasn’t been perfect — they had a rough time in the early 80s when Alice was struggling with alcohol — but they found their way back to each other once he got sober.
What defines them is how close they are. They travel together, work together, laugh together, and somehow manage to keep that sense of “us” no matter what’s happening around them. They raised three kids — Calico, Dash, and Sonora — and built a family life that’s surprisingly grounded for someone whose stage persona gets his head chopped off every night.
Half a century later, they’re still choosing each other. In 2026, they renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary. Alice talked about proving that real love still exists, and Sheryl said marriage is basically two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other.
A rock star and a dancer who turned out to be partners in the truest sense.
“Picture a dark stage. And a single spotlight. Into it, steps a man dressed as a 1930s railroad villain. Complete with handlebar mustache, velvet cape, and top hat. By his side is a woman in a bearded lady costume and tutu. They are hosting a talent show at my grade school… Nobody forced them to do this.
Picture a Halloween night. He is dressed like a man sized Chuckle doll. Complete with rubber mask & real butcher knife. She is a pantless mad hatter. The other parents are in jeans and tshirts… Nobody forced them to do this.
Picture an arena. Thousands of screaming fans. He is dressed in a straight jacket. She is a demented nurse. As he struggles to escape his restraints, she licks his face from chin to forehead. The crowd goes wild… Nobody forced them to do this.
They chose. They choose.
And although it has not been a road without hairpin turns, and some white knuckle drop offs, they chose. To lock in, and navigate it together. One questionable costume at a time.
If their love was a painting it would be by Dali.
Vital and Spontaneous. Styalized. Fiercely scrutinized, and luckily for us, on display for all to see.
And Just like a painting we will all take something different from looking at it. A challenge. An inspiration. A hand on a partners leg that says “I bet we could paint like that”.
Their work of art is this.
Look around at the people surrounding you here. This.
Every person in this room is here because of this masterpiece of a marriage that God crafted and they cared for. It deserves to be honored, Celebrated, and if we are lucky…. Just straight up ripped off. “
