Background
John Christopher Depp || was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky in the USA.
He grew up with his three older siblings; Daniel, Debora aka Debbie and Christi(ne). His mother, Betty Sue Palmer, was a waitress and his father, John Christopher Depp | worked as an engineer.
Family life was often characterized by arguments between the parents and they often moved, including from Kentucky to Miramar, Florida in 1970.
When he was 15, his parents divorced. Johnny dropped out of school and started making music. In order to earn the necessary money to survive, he took on many part-time jobs during this time, for example as a call center agent who sold pens or pumping gas.

Through his then girlfriend, Lori Anne Allison, who later became his wife (1983-1985), he met Nicolas Cage, who helped him get a supporting role in ''Nightmare On Elm Street'' (1984) and thus got Johnny's acting career rolling.
The bigger successes came with the cop series ''21 Jump Street'' (1987) and ''Edward Scissorhands'' (1990). During this time he was with actress Winona Ryder and subsequently with supermodel Kate Moss. ''Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl'' (2003) helped him to his final worldwide success.
Johnny had especially many collaborations with producer and friend Tim Burton. Their first film together was ''Edward Scissorhands'', followed over the years by films such as ''Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'', ''Sleepy Hollow'' and ''Alice in Wonderland''. In the meantime, the two have made eight films together.
From 1998-2012 he was with french singer and model Vanessa Paradis, with whom he shares two children; Lily-Rose and Jack.
In his now over 40-years film career, Johnny has received numerous awards and nominations; including 7 People's Choice Awards, a Golden Globe Award (and 9 nominations), 4 MTV Movie Awards and three Oscar nominations.
